Event Information

Dr Crayton Walker will deliver a taster session on Principles of The Communicative Approach. You will also hear more about the campus programmes available in the department of English Language and Linguistics.

We are one of the leading centres for the study of English Language in the world. Placed in the top 50 in the QS 2023 World University Rankings, the University of Birmingham is a centre of excellence for both teaching and research in English Language and Linguistics.

We offer expert teaching and research supervision to postgraduates across a wide range of English Language disciplines, both on campus and by distance learning.

The Department is home to a variety of student run postgraduate groups. We are particularly proud of the role our postgraduates play in adding to the life of the Department; for example our postgraduate researchers often organise and run their own conferences and research forums.

We offer programmes spanning a range of English Language specialisms, and provide opportunities to study both on-campus and by distance learning. Our lively postgraduate community also offers excellent routes in to this field through our PhD and MA by Research programmes.
