Questions

What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

I would say try to figure out what you are interested in and your career path, find internships and get some first hand experience before choosing your major, and it’s better to improve your academic skills especially for international students.

What, for you, are the best things about the course?

I think the great thing about UoB is that there’s really something for everyone. As an international student, I would say it was a bit overwhelming at the beginning, but there was always a person you can reach out to no matter what. So I’ve had a lot of interactions with lecturers, Academic Skills Centre and the careers centre to develop both my academic skills and employability skills. Also I think there’s lots of great opportunities on campus. There’re also 350 different societies there, there’s really something that everyone can get involved with. For me personally, I’m a member of the Women in Finance society which offers a platform to get insights from the industry. There are countless internship and volunteering opportunities as well. So for now all of my experiences with my course have been overwhelmingly positive.

What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

My motivations for Postgraduate study are mainly the following:
(1)Develop my employability
(2)Build a solid foundation for Economics and Finance
(3)Immerse myself in UK campus life and cross-cultural environment
(4)Networking and making connections with potential colleagues
