Past Questions

  1. Hi, I was just wondering if I could have some advice from someone who is doing this course. I was just wondering how you balance your academic studies and your work life to fund your Masters? If that’s what you do of course!

Hello, thank you for your question! I balance my work and studies by being organised and planning my week ahead of time. I have a weekly desk pad that I can fill in with the designated times for things and then I know which parts of my days are free to be filled with any work for my lessons.

I find it is also important to make sure you aren't taking on too much. Know your limits and be self aware, know what you can achieve in X amount of hours and that will also help you to know how much time you need to reserve each week for your study and how much of it you can use up with working.

    I hope this helps!

  2. What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

My motivation for Postgraduate study was to continue to explore an area that I was passionate about and to contribute positively to an under-researched field.

  3. What, for you, are the best things about the course?

For me, the best thing about my course is the staff here at UoB. They are all so lovely and helpful and they really do want the best for you and to help you achieve all of your goals and more!

  4. What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

My advice would be to make sure that you are willing to apply yourself to this degree. Try not to think of Postgraduate study as 'another year' or 'a top up', it really is another degree and it really is a lot of work! Of course, being passionate and interested in your study makes this work enjoyable but if the commitment is not there, then, take some time out first to be sure this is for you.
