After enjoying studying geography at an undergraduate level I knew I wasn’t ready to leave education just yet and began looking at potential masters courses relating to my degree. I came across the field of urban and regional planning which linked to undergraduate modules I had done concerning urban futures, and became highly interested in the field and the career options it opens up.
What, for you, are the best things about the course?
Urban and Regional Planning is a great course because it is so practical! There are many visits out into the city of Birmingham to see first hand how planning works and the impacts it has. It is also accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute!
What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?
There is no need to worry about whether you have studied planning or any related modules before, the course perfectly eases you into the field of planning and the lecturers are very friendly, approachable and supportive. As long as you are enthusiastic about planning and urban design, and willing to work hard then you will no doubt love the course!
