Past Questions

  1. What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?

Being back home during the pandemic made me rethink my path in life and all the choices I've made thus far. Reflecting on my past work experiences and relationships made me realise that working a 9-5 didn't bring me joy and helping vulnerable people and/or communities was more rewarding and fulfilling for me, which is why I'm taking MA Social Work so I can better equip myself for the job.

  2. What, for you, are the best things about the course?

I love that my course is a small one so everyone gets along well with each other. There is no rivalry between us; we're always helping each other when we can. The course is comprehensive, detailed, and there's always something new to learn or a different perspective I never considered before. I always leave seminars feeling overwhelmed but enlightened in a lot of ways.

  3. What piece of advice would you give to anyone considering postgraduate study in your field?

Take everything in stride and don't be afraid to ask questions. No question is a stupid question. As a non-EU international student, the culture shock of both university life and settling in the UK were my biggest hurdles, especially since social work is a very UK-centric field. But things will get more manageable over time and you'll adapt in ways you didn't think you could before.
