Please tell us about your experience of using the University's services.

I do sometimes take part in extracurricular events offered by the university. My favourite is attending postgraduate socials which are held during the weekends here I get to meet other postgraduates and have meaningful conversations.

What are your career goals after graduating?

After graduating, my goal is to pursue a career in research and development within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. I want to work in the industry for some time and then maybe continue my academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics.

Tell us about the teaching environment and lecturers on your course.

The teaching environment at the University of Birmingham Dubai is dynamic and engaging. Lecturers are not only experts in their respective fields but also passionate about imparting knowledge to their students eg: The modules that I finished recently metabolomics and machine learning were really well planned and taught.

Tell us how the course has helped you to develop your skills for your current/future career.

Through coursework, research projects, and collaborative assignments, I’m gaining proficiency in programming languages, data analysis techniques, and biological database management. These skills are highly sought-after in industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and academic research, positioning me as a competitive candidate in the job market.

What are the best things about your course?

My favourite aspect of the MSc Bioinformatics course is the hands-on experience it provides. This hands-on approach not only enhances my understanding of bioinformatics concepts but also prepares me for the challenges I may encounter in my future career.

Why did you choose to study your current course?

I chose to study MSc Bioinformatics because during my bachelor’s I had bioinformatics as a subject and was fascinated by the intersection of Biology with Computer science. Pursuing this program allows me to delve deeper into this field, equipping me with the necessary skills to contribute to advancements in healthcare, genetics, and beyond.

I chose the University of Birmingham Dubai because of its reputable standing as a leading institution in the field of higher education. The opportunity to pursue my studies in a global setting, while still benefitting from the esteemed British education system, was a major draw for me.
